Classically trained multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, engineer and remixer, Matt Lord has been creating original musical works for the past 20 years.
His breadth as a composer has brought commissions for brands including Nokia, Cadbury’s, Kraft, Nestle, Ebay, HTC and Philips in the UK and worldwide.
Playing in bands as a kid, obsessed with electronics / sound engineering, it all came together when he moved to London in 1999 and completed a music degree at London College of Music – where he met and was mentored by Darren Benjamin (Daz I-Kue), who brought Matt on board the newly-formed Broken Beat supergroup Bugz In The Attic.
Matt is also one third of legendary Drum & Bass trio The Invaderz, who over the last 15 years or so have released classic productions on almost every label in the business – Metalheadz, CiA, V Recordings, Innerground, Soul:r, and most recently in 2014 their chart-topping full length LP “New
Found Dialect” on Commercial Suicide Records.
In 2004 Matt set up his own studio in Wood Green, which serves as a base for all his musical operations, and for his work with the production outfit/label 2000black – owned and run by legendary UK dance music pioneer Dego (4Hero). For the last 10 years Matt has engineered and mixed the majority of Dego’s releases, also collaborating with him as co-producer on classic releases such as Dego’s “A Wha Him Deh Pon” LP and most recently “Tatham Mensah Lord & Ranks” LP, alongside Dego, Kaidi Tatham and Akwasi Mensah.
2014 also saw Matt set up brand new record label Ten50 Records alongside Kaidi Tatham and Mark Force (another member of Bugz and veteran D&B Producer for Reinforced Records), releasing the hugely acclaimed debut album by Blu James (featured vocalist on Basement Jaxx “Red Alert”), which Matt mixed, engineered and co-produced, as well as a string of dance floor classics with vocalists such as Lady Alma and Bembe Segue.
Alongside all this, Matt is in continued demand as a composer/producer of advertising and shortform projects, creating soundtracks for multinational corporations including Barclays, Gillette, HTC, Nokia,
Nestle, Phillips, Cadburys and EDF.
